We are talking about the fashion models of the present, yesterday and tomorrow. They appear everywhere we look, but who brings them to people like us? Their images are captured with care and sharpness, that special look of style, colour and lighting composition.

In the fashion world, famous names like Mario Testino and Eva Mueller (photographer for Fashion Magazine Allure) are just as sought after if not more then those men and women models. High remunerations and glamour lifestyle plus mingling with the rich and famous might be the dream of many young shutterbugs. However, it is never easy to reach and climb the 'Golden Staircases' of the well-known fashion houses and magazines. For every one skilful and talented photographer, hundreds are left at the sidewalk, only dreaming about the chance that their photos will be picked and chosen. Study And Understand More On Fashion PhotographyHere are a few tips for the beginners and dreamer of dreams in getting started in fashion photography. Study and understand your subject. You can never learn enough. Read, observe and study at any fashion magazines you can get grab on. There are excellent books on Fashion and Fashion Photography available. Amazon.com, a true treasure trove, has many good books available. You need one or two good cameras, tripod, various lenses and a lighting system. Always ensure that you have plenty of film and batteries available. SLR and digital cameras take different types of photography, so make sure you find the most appropriate and the best for your field. Always Have Your Photography Portfolio On Hand
When submitting your finished work, to give yourself a higher chance, you must have a photography portfolio on hand, just in case the editor of the fashion magazine wants to see samples of your previous work. The sharp, bright images of a 4X5 transparency show of your work are the best. If you have already had a publication, it does not matter if it was a small neighbourhood magazine, paper or a contest; a tear sheet (literally a sheet you tore out of the magazine) works well. If neither is at hand, a good sharp and high quality 8 X 10 is acceptable as well. You should have a minimum of 20 photos in your portfolio and preferably different styles and techniques. You want to show your expertise and skills in full figure or/and just partial body parts. Remember, fashion also includes jewellery and accessories. Sometimes a shot or photo of a wristwatch from a famous maker on the slender wrist of a beautiful woman is a good fashion shoot. If you are applying for the job, be prepared to leave behind your submitted Portfolio for an extended period of time, sometimes as much as a couple of weeks. It is always better for you to make copies and have several on hand. This comes in good and handy when showing your work to many different people or editors for consideration for different fashion work. Display Your Works On Fashion Photography OnlineIn this time of modern technology, it is good to display your skill and talent as a fashion photographer online as well. Considering setting up a website. Upload and submit your photos for contests. Submit them to online fashion houses or galleries. This enables getting your work expose and be seen. People can see what type of specialization of fashion photography you focus on and can do for them. Most editors are looking for your personality and skills in the photos you captured. Each fashion photographer captures the soul and spirit of the fashion and its model differently. There are a number of excellent websites on how to get started in fashion photography in the Internet. Lastly and most importantly, if this is your dream, do not give up. Keep trying till your images appear on the cover of the next hot fashion magazine.
