Lasik | My Lasik Surgery Experience Part 2
Having had my Lasik procedure done several years ago, I believe I can be considered one of the
"old hands". I thought it's good to give my perspective on my own adventure with Lasik
surgery.
Let me begin with my vision situation before the Lasik procedure. Back then, I was so dependent
on my glasses & contact lenses. Nowadays, I have near perfect vision in one eye, and improved vision in
the other eye. For people not familiar with Lasik surgery, you should know that the procedure does not
guarantee that everyone will end up with perfect vision.

Lasik Doctor Explained To Me The Entire Lasik Procedure
Many competent Lasik doctors will take time to explain and also set realistic expectations for the patients. For
most patients, they can expect noticeably improved vision after the surgery. But this does not guarantee that the
dependence on glasses or contact lenses is totally removed.
My own Lasik doctor was very clear on this point. I told him that so far as I'm concerned, so long as I'm able
to look around my kitchen and recognize the pot that's at the far end of the room, I'll be satisfied. My lasik
doctor said that my expectation was something he could almost guarantee, and I could possibly achieve even much
better results than that.
I Experience ‘Halos’ Around Bright Light After Lasik Surgery
Several years after the Lasik procedure, I only experience one permanent side effect that I did not have prior
to my Lasik vision correction surgery. I still see halos around bright lights at night, and fortunately they are
not really bothersome. In fact, I have come to consider them as rather pretty. It's kind of like the artificial
twinkle that you see in people's eyes on TV shows. I'm glad that I'm one of the majorities of Lasik
patients who had a very successful procedure and outcome.
No Other Major Lasik Post-Operation Problem

For many weeks after the Lasik procedure I had blurry vision whenever I try to focus on items very close to me.
Other than that, I didn't experience any other post-operation problems, such as fluctuating vision. But I do
remember that I did sleep a lot after the Lasik procedure, and also used the eye drops exactly as requested by the
Lasik doctor.
Sleep is recommended to aid healing. My Lasik doctor recommended me to sleep quite soon after the Lasik
operation in order to get a good start on the healing process. Perhaps I took that to an extreme, but I just
wanted to rest my eyes as much as possible after the Lasik procedure.
As a result of my successful experience with Lasik procedure, my friends and family are now more convinced to
consider Lasik procedures. Of course, this is only my experience with Lasik procedure. You should also
investigate and let others tell their own experiences as well. I can only say that, from my perspective, there were
a few bumps on the road. Nonetheless, I'll still recommend the Lasik procedure to anyone interested in improving
their vision. But remember, you have to do your own investigations and choose the best Lasik doctor.
